Two-try Fylde lead at half-time in National League One

Fylde edged the first half in a keenly-contested clash at the Woodlands Memorial Ground.

Rosslyn Park took the lead with an early Harry Leonard penalty before Greg Smith levelled the scores with a penalty of his own for Fylde.

Rosslyn Park centre Andrew Henderson nearly broke clean through, but his opposite number Chris Briers stopped him with a timely tackle.

However, the respite was only temporary and the visitors continued to harass the Fylde line.

At the end of a flowing move Henderson shovelled the ball out to Daniel Barnes, who skirted over for a try, goaled by Leonard (3-10).

Fylde retaliated with a storming try by winger Tom Grimes - the move began when Rosslyn Park were penalised at a line-out.

Their defence was caught unawares and the ball was shipped across the park to Tom Grimes, who pressed the accelerator button to maximum effect as a 45-yard run took him over the try-line for an excellent, but unconverted score (8-10).y.

Fylde took the lead on the half hour.

Full-back Danny Carleton worked the opening with a mazy dash down the right-wing that troubled the Rosslyn Park defence no end - Fylde then deftly switched the point of attack across the field with some slick handling and it ended in style with Ben Gregory finding try-scorer Briers, who dashed in at the corner. Smith was wayward with his conversion (13-10).

On 38 minutes Fylde nudged further ahead thanks to a Smith penalty (16-10).
