Imagine you are going on a car journey and after 90 minutes on the road you miss a turning. It adds about 10 minutes to your trip but that’s no issue, right? Wrong!

You freak out, turn the car around and go all the way home. You unpack all your bags, then put them back in the car later and start the entire journey again because your previous one wasn’t perfect.

I know you’re thinking, ‘Mikey, that’s ridiculous. Why would I do that?’

But that’s what people do with their fat-loss goals. They are either all in or all out and I see it all the time.

They start off all good on Monday but Wednesday hits and there’s a small slip-up – a little cake or a bit too much alcohol – and suddenly it’s over and they are starting again next Monday. So rather than adding 10 minutes to the journey, they have started it all over again. It makes no sense to me but it happens a lot.

So what if you slip up? Just fix it rather than starting over. You are only one workout or one meal from being back on track.

So next time this happens to you, just take the next turn rather than turning back. It’s easier to hop back on the track than to start all over again.
