New head coaches Alex Loney and Chris Briers are looking ahead to the 2021/22 campaign as the ongoing lockdown sees hopes fade for a planned competition for National League clubs, which was due to start next month.
But Brennand, a member of the National Clubs Association which represents the National Leagues, said every effort will be made to stage fixtures this season, if only at a localised level.

Hide AdSpeaking to The Gazette before the lockdown was extended beyond February, Brennand said: “From an NCA position, we will definitely look to play some regional games.
“I can’t tell you how it would work financially, with no bar or supporters, but the main thing is to give the players some rugby.”
Despite their frustrations on the playing side, Fylde have used the lockdown productively to make progress off the field.
Brennand added: “We’ve completely revamped our internal systems and upgraded. Andy Dowds has done an outstanding job.
