Fylde sign up Lancashire trio

A mini-juniors product of Lancaster club Vale of Lune, Hall represented Lancashire at junior levels before moving to Northern Ireland to study for a degree in sports science.

While at the University of Ulster he played for Belfast club Queens University.

After completing his studies, Hall began work at his former school Lancaster Royal Grammar. Its director of rugby was Fylde captain Evan Stewart and he introduced Hall to the Woodlands, where he played a few games for Fylde’s second XV in the autumn of 2016.

Hall rejoined Vale of Lune, enjoying a hugely successful 2017-18 season after Stewart had become head coach.

Playing at full-back or on the wing, Hall scored 444 points that season and his 43 tries broke the club record set by former Fylde favourite Nick Royle.

His 2018-19 season was affected by injuries and unavailability but nonetheless ended with Lancashire selection for the County Championship.

Now an established PE teacher at RLGS, Hall played for Rossendale last season and has earned a contract at the Woodlands for the coming campaign.

Head coach Warren Spragg said: “Damon will add more quality to our high-scoring outside backs and I’m looking forward to working with him.

“He has serious speed, a lot of confidence in one-on-one situations and knows his way to the try-line.

“I am sure he will want to compete with Tom Carleton, Tom Grimes and Connor Wilkinson at the top of the try-scoring charts next season!”

Hall said: “I’m really excited to sign for Fylde for the coming season. It was an easy decision considering the club has such a young and talented group of players, who all seem extremely ambitious to push on to the next level.

“Although it’s difficult without a set start to the season at the minute, I’m really keen to get stuck in and hopefully add something to the team in the push back up to National One.”
