Fleetwood CC stalwart becomes the club's director of cricket
Fleetwood CC has announced Andrew Singleton is taking up the position of director of cricket at the club.
After 30 years at Broadwater in posts from player to captain and junior coach to committee member, Singleton has now taken on another role.
He said: “Having played for Fleetwood for the last 30 years, it’s an honour to be asked to fill the role of director of cricket.
“As well as playing, I have coached the juniors for the last seven years and now have the pleasure of seeing many of these players transition into the senior sides, one of which is my son Tom.
“The club is in a great position despite all the difficulties Covid presented to us last year.
“We have a really good team behind the scenes, who have worked tirelessly to prepare for the new season under the most difficult of circumstances.
“It’s great to be back playing after the uncertainty of the last few months but, like many teams, we are behind the curve having only had two weeks’ practice instead of the usual two months of indoor nets.
“This has shown in our first few outings but I know the boys will all work hard to make up the lost ground.
“We look forward to welcoming our professional, Dyllan Matthews, to the club.
“Dyllan is currently in quarantine for 10 days, so will join up with the players next week.
“I want to take this opportunity to wish all our teams the best of luck for the season and look forward to the challenges ahead.”
