The story of Fleetwood Town's season: Unbeaten run extends into March

Having entered March unbeaten in nine games, Fleetwood extended that sequence by a further three before lockdown.

Town's terrific February

That unbeaten run reached double figures as Ched Evans scored the only goal at Ipswich Town on the first Tuesday of the month.

Evans had replaced the injured Callum Connolly early in proceedings and Town went close when the post saved Luke Chambers from scoring an own goal from Barrie McKay's cross.

And it was McKay who exchanged passed with Evans five minutes before the break for the striker to net the winner

Ipswich had chances in the second half but Alex Cairns tipped over Tyreece Simpson's effort.

The following Saturday brought Town's attempt to avenge their 3-1 defeat at Blackpool but the Highbury rematch ended goalless.

In his first game as Blackpool boss, Neil Critchley saw his side have the better of the first half chances but Fleetwood grew stronger after the break.

The closest they came to breaking the deadlock was when Paddy Madden headed just wide from Lewie Coyle's cross.

Fleetwood's last outing before lockdown brought a 2-2 draw at fellow play-off contenders Portsmouth three days later.

McKay gave Fleetwood the lead on 19 minutes, bundling the ball home at the second attempt, but Sean Raggett levelled against the run of play with a looping header.

The central figure of the second half was Fleetwood's Harry Souttar, who could only turn a Ryan Williams pull-back into his own goal three minutes after the break.

But just seven minutes later Souttar made amends with the equaliser and Town's final game for close to four months perhaps rightly ended in a draw.
