Lancashire build big first innings haul
The visitors added 176 to their first day score before a limping Chanderpaul became their last man out just after 3.30pm. In the 10 overs through to tea, Surrey had reached 27 without loss in reply.
Soon after lunch, Surrey seamer Mark Footitt switched to the Vauxhall End to complete his fifth five-wicket haul in as many first-class games. Bowling around the wicket and short of a length, the left-armer got two deliveries to hold their line and feather the edge and have Stephen Parry (21) and Kyle Jarvis (0) caught behind by Ben Foakes. Chanderpaul hobbled on, however, planting two sixes off Scott Borthwick into the pavilion as he and last man Simon Kerrigan added 63 in 18 overs for the 10th wicket.

Footitt, with five for 118, was the pick of the Surrey attack with Batty chipping in with three for 72.
