Two more on trial but no panic at Fleetwood

Town remain in the market for several new faces and Pressley is running the rule over two triallists this week as his search for new faces goes on.

But the manager made it clear he won’t burden the club with unwanted additions, even if January is proving a difficult market in which to do business.

“We’ve got two triallists in here for this week,” Pressley revealed to The Gazette.

“We’ll assess them and we’ll continue to work really hard to bring in the right players.

“Five hours is a long time on a bus and I’m sure I’ll be on the phone a lot as we travel down for the Colchester game (this evening).”

Town need extra numbers at full-back and centre-half and are still looking for a goalscorer.

But Pressley won’t join the January frenzy just for the sake of it.

“Sometimes you have to push the boat out with loans, but one thing you’ve got to watch is signing permanent players in a panic,” he said.

“If they don’t work out, you’re left with them for a long time. It’s crucial that we don’t panic.”

And the Fleetwood boss insists doing the right business is never easy at this time of year.

“I think the one thing I’ve found is that January is a difficult month to get people in,” he said.

“Nobody wants to let go of their strikers or their centre-backs during this period.

“It’s a really difficult month to do business, so when there is business to be done you have to make sure you get it done.”
