This team has the right ingredients

I'm not saying it's going to happen, but this Blackpool side certainly have the right stuff needed to have a shot at promotion. They're solid at the back and can ride out a storm - as we saw at the end of the game at Brisbane Road - but they're also one of the most potent sides in the league when it comes to creating chances and sticking them away. Even though Orient's 89th minute goal put the wind in their sails and they did rally for an unlikely equaliser, they never seriously threatened and the Seasiders secured the three points their performance deserved.

Matt brings so much to the team

Jamille Matt has had a far from perfect start to life as a Blackpool player, having suffered an early injury and taking three months to grab his first goal. But the 27-year-old is now coming into his own and is grabbing plaudits for all the right reasons. He took his goal superbly on Saturday, brushing off his defender in impressive style before showing good composure to cut inside and fire his shot into the roof of the net. But it was his all-round play that caught the eye. He bullied the defenders all afternoon and never gave them a moments rest. His strength and hold-up play brings others into the game and allows the likes of Brad Potts and Colin Daniel to bomb past him and get into the box.

Goal from Aldred had been on the cards

Tom Aldred bagged his first goal of the season after leaping highest to head home Jack Payne's corner to double his side's lead in the second half. The defender admitted in his post-match interview that the goal had been a long time coming. For such a commanding player who is such a threat from set pieces, it's surprising it's taken him this long to get his name on the scoresheet. He scored five last season but with the sheer number of chances Blackpool create, there's absolutely no reason why he can't go on and beat that tally this time around.

Pool need to make the most of good run

The Seasiders have now extended their unbeaten run to six games but it was the fact that Saturday's win secured their first back-to-back wins of the season that is perhaps most noteworthy. If Pool can follow it up with another positive result at Mansfield tomorrow night, even if it's a draw, that will show this side mean business. The Stags had a good result at the weekend, winning 3-1 in their first game under new manager Steve Evans, so it will certainly be a stern test of their credentials. But confidence is high and they need to maintain their momentum for as long as possible.

Orient harmed by fan protests

Blackpool fans will know better than most what effect protests can have on a game. Orient fans started the game by backing their men, but as soon as things went southwards they soon turned. The home faithful were booing every misplaced touch, complaining at every move that broke down and ended the game by calling for the heads of both their manager and their owner. Watching on from the sidelines it was clear that as soon as Blackpool got that second goal, the game was as good as over. The Orient players were drained of confidence and daren't take risks with their play - instead preferring to take the easy option and pass sideways or backwards. The O's aren't the best of sides - but with the current atmosphere surrounding the club, a relegation scrap certainly looks on the cards.
