Bowyer: Cambridge's last-ditch win 'crazy'

Last Saturday, Shaun Derry’s men grabbed all three points despite conceding two stoppage-time penalties and finishing the game with just nine men.

The 2-1 win handed The U’s their fourth consecutive win, and Bowyer, having watched back a DVD of the game, admitted they have the momentum coming into this weekend’s game.

“Sometimes that’s just how it goes for you,” he said.

“They’ve got a bit of momentum going their way and sometimes things fall for you like that. Now we’re just waiting for it to fall for us like that.

“It was an interesting video, that’s for sure.”

Cambridge will now be without the suspended Leon Legge and Brad Halliday for Saturday's game at Bloomfield Road but despite their absences, Bowyer is still expecting a tough task.

“Shaun is going to have players that will come in and fill in, so we’re aware of the challenge that lies ahead,” he said.

“We’ve had two players out injured for the last couple of games and we’ve just had to get on with it.

“It’s all about us, our players and how we go about it.”

The last time Blackpool turned out for a game on their home patch they produced a dominant display to dispatch Portsmouth 3-1, a result the Pool boss is looking to build on.

Bowyer said: “Our performances at home have been very good and that one against Portsmouth was something for us to build on and hopefully we can do that right on Saturday.

“They’re organised, they’re hard working and they’re very honest and we know we are going to have to match that.”
