Blackpool are prepared to give top goalscorer Armand Gnanduillet as long as he needs to get up to full fitness.

The 18-goal forward missed his second game running on Tuesday night as the Seasiders claimed a much-needed 2-1 win against Bolton Wanderers.

The Frenchman is on his way back from a hamstring injury he suffered in the defeat to Bristol Rovers, but caretaker boss David Dunn is wary of rushing him back too soon.

When asked if Gnanduillet will be fit for Saturday’s game against Ipswich Town, Dunn said: “We’re not sure.

“He’s coming on and he’s back running again now, so hopefully he can be in with a shout.

“But I want to give Armand the best chance of playing more games for us, I don’t want to rush him and him end up doing his hamstring again.”

Gnanduillet’s absence puts more pressure on Gary Madine to do the business up front.

The experienced striker has been playing with a knee complaint in recent weeks, but still managed to play 83 minutes in midweek.

“He’s fine,” Dunn said.

“I thought he worked hard. I asked a lot of him, especially in the last 20 minutes or so he was on the pitch.

“It was tough for him up there on his own but I thought he tried to get hold of it and bring players into play.

“It was a good shift from him.”

The managerless Seasiders now go in search of their first back-to-back league wins since November when they take on the faltering Tractor Boys on Saturday.

Paul Lambert’s men have slipped down to ninth in the League One table, having lost four of their last six games.

“It’s another tough game”, Dunn said. “But we’re looking forward to it.

“I think you could see in the first half against Bolton the lads were enjoying themselves.

“I think in the last three games we could quite easily have had nine points, although I know we don’t.

“They’re looking like they’re playing with confidence but we have to keep playing with a high line to put pressure on the ball.”
