The 20-year-old, who is on loan at Bloomfield Road from Brest, was among the scorers in the Seasiders’ 3-2 victory over Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night.

Critchley is pleased with the way the former Celtic wonderkid has progressed throughout his first couple of months with Blackpool, and is hopeful there is more to come.

“He did some excellent things against Cheltenham,” he said.

“We found him quite well, whether that was playing through the line or picking up a second ball.

“When he receives the ball, he’s got lovely close control and a low centre of gravity, so he can turn and get away from defenders.

“You know when he turns he can release players, like he did against Oxford.

“He came on against Charlton a few weeks ago and scored- he also did some really good things against Derby.

Neil Critchley reveals how close Ollie Norburn was to making the Cheltenham game...

“He’s had to be patient, but he wants to play because he loves football.

“He has that infectious quality of making something happen as he’s got that belief in himself.

“He deserved his opportunity against Cheltenham.

“I thought he showed what he’s about as a player.

“He plays the game in a unique way, there’s many like him in this league.

“I’m delighted for him.

“He began to tire a little bit, which is understandable, so we have to recover, rest and go again on Saturday.”
