He said: “We’ve got two home games now, back to back.

“Our last home performance against Portsmouth was very good and we want to build on that.

“We want our home stadium to be a really difficult place for teams to come.

“We’re playing a little bit of catch-up on where we should be, in my opinion, so we want this run to continue.

“We’ve got loads of time as well, there’s only 15 or 16 games gone and we’re thinking ‘my God, there’s still 30 games to go.’

“That’s a long time, there are a lot of games and a lot of points still to play for yet.”

Next week sees the review of the post-lockdown tier system which has left clubs on the Fylde coast and in Lancashire playing behind closed doors.

Critchley feels it would be the perfect festive gift if Blackpool fans were able to return soon – and believes there would be an atmosphere to savour.

He said: “If it was Rochdale at home on Boxing Day with a few thousand supporters there, it would be the best Christmas present that we could all receive.

“The way that we’re playing at the moment and the form that we’re in, our home stadium would be rocking.

“It would be fantastic to have everyone together on Boxing Day.”
