Critchley was nominated for the gong after the Seasiders won four of their five matches in February, suffering just one defeat to Ipswich Town.
Instead the award, for which MK Dons boss Russell Martin and Burton Albion manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink were also nominated, went to Ferguson after Posh won all six of their games.

Hide AdWhile Critchley admits it was nice to be nominated, he insists it remains a team effort.
“It’s all about the players,” he said. “They’re the ones that take to the pitch and they have to go and earn you those points.
“It’s just a reflection of how well they’ve done recently, but while it’s nice, it doesn’t mean particularly much to me if I’m being honest.
“I’m not a massive fan of individual awards because it’s a collective game, isn’t it? We all win, lose or draw together.
