Unveiling of statue for founding father
It will be Fleetwood’s first monument to the visionary town planner who made his dream of a thriving port come true, but was eventually left bankrupt by his cherished project.
The unveiling of the £40,000 statue will take place in the North Euston Gardens on Sunday, from 2pm.

Hide AdThornton Cleveleys Band will play from 1.30pm and dramatic society the Windmill Players will give impromptu performances of their Fleetwood Story.
The statue, created by Lancaster craftsman Alan Ward, will be unveiled by Doreen Lofthouse and Tony Attard, the High Sheriff of Lancashire.
William Hargreaves, chairman of the statue fundraising group, will give an address and Canon John Hall, Vicar of Fleetwood, will give the blessing.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the unveiling. Mr Hargreaves said: “If it wasn’t for Sir Peter, there wouldn’t be a Fleetwood.”
