Two Blackpool schools praised by Ofsted inspectors
Waterloo Primary Academy in South Shore, and Marton Primary Academy, were both inspected by Ofsted recently.
It is the first visit by the education watchdog at Marton, off Highfield Road, since it became an academy, with headteacher Ruth Coupe telling parents: “I am so proud of the children, the staff, governors, and of our community.”

In a letter to headteacher Mark Hamblett, inspector Ahmed Marikar said the ‘good quality of education’ had been kept up. He said: “You leave no stone unturned in your quest to drive forward improvements in teaching and learning and pupils’ behaviour.”
Mr Hamblett said: “Maintaining this judgement is nothing but testament to the incredibly hard work and relentless committment of our pupils, staff, and governors since the last inspection in February 2014.”
To further improve, the school should make sure the attendance of disadvantaged pupils, and their standards in reading, writing and maths, continues to improve, and that gifted pupils are challenged.
