Tributes paid to '˜loveable rogue' Kris

Kris Warner, 29, was found hanged inside his central Blackpool home after concerns were raised about his safety.

His brother Andy today told The Gazette: “He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody.

“He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.”

The ‘popular’ dad-of-one was last seen alive on Wednesday night enjoying a meal out with some of his family.

But after then failing to post to Facebook – something he would usually do ‘four or five times a day’ – or turn up at Bannatyne Health Club, off Rigby Road, Andy and several friends called at Kris’ Osborne Road home at around 5.30pm on Saturday.

“He was always about and training and it became a bit suspicious when nobody had heard from him,” Andy said.

“We went to his house and kicked the door through and we found him hanged.

“He always said he would do something to himself. He was a loveable guy but very unpredictable.

“He was a loveable rogue. He didn’t realise he was as loved as he was, that’s for sure.”

Dozens of tributes were paid to Kris on social networking site Facebook.

A tribute group, called R.I.P Kris Warner <3 xxx, was created, while flowers were also fixed to railings outside his old primary school.

One of Kris’ friends, Wayne Wareing, wrote online: “You never showed me you had so much pain deep within you.

“I am so heartbroken and upset and destroyed. You’re one in a million, bro. Your legend will live on. We have lost Blackpool’s finest.”

Another, Kev Tonner, described Kris as ‘the most loyal, nicest, craziest, big-hearted lunatic I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing’.

And Scott Tobin wrote: “I know and have met hundreds of people throughout my life but nobody like you.

“We were close, now so far apart. A piece of me has gone with you. Truly broke my heart.

“Love you always, Kris. My memories will keep you alive.”

Born on March 5, 1986 to Terry and Maureen Warner, Kris went to Waterloo Primary School and later Palatine High School, both in South Shore.

Particularly close to his mum, Kris grew up alongside Andy and several other siblings: Terence, Darren, Lorraine, and Rebecca.

It was Andy who taught him how to box when he was suffering at the hands of bullies as a youngster – but his erratic behaviour later saw him in trouble with the law on several occasions.

In 2014, Kris was banned from all clubs and pubs in Blackpool, Fleetwood, and Lytham after trading blows with professional cage fighter Karl ‘The Wrecking Machine’ Etherington in Henry’s Bar in Lytham.

And he was facing court again after being charged with assault shortly before his death.

Andy, who runs tattoo parlour Retro Ink on Central Drive, added: “Nothing really mattered to him.

“He was living life his way and no other way.

“He never answered to anyone.”

A spokeswoman for Lancashire Police confirmed officers were called to an address in Osborne Road following a sudden but non-suspicious death.

A file was prepared and was passed to the coroner.

Funeral details have yet to be announced.
