Hide AdDiversions had been put in place and motorists were asked to avoid the area.
Blackpool Transport also diverted bus route 75 via Lawsons Road, Trunnah Road and Fleetwood Road due to the emergency roadworks.
The road has since reopened - with the sinkhole seemingly temporarily fixed with tarmac - but a pothole remains on the surface.
Motorists who aren't acknowledging the temporary 'slow' traffic sign are hitting their suspensions on the tarmac, according to eyewitnesses.
Lancashire County Council has been approached for comment.
