Drivers are being warned that there could be delays a long the road between the junctions with the A587 at the Norcross Roundabout and the A588 South Shard Bridge from April 29 until May 1. Roadworks are planned at the junctions from 7am until 5pm each day.

The work is part of a series of up grades and widening along the whole of the A585 between the M55 junction at Kirkham and Fleetwood to reduce traffic bottlenecks.

The Highways Agency website states: “Congestion is particularly severe at the junction with the A586 at Little Singleton and the signalised junction with the A588 at Shard Road.

"A high number of accidents are reported at these junctions and the volume of traffic is also a concern for local people, pedestrians, equestrians and cyclists. If we don’t make improvements to this three-mile section of road, it’s likely there will be a rise in traffic levels and an increase in accidents.”
