Teenagers spruce up animal sanctuary

Teenagers from across the Fylde coast helped to clean and paint buildings at an animal sanctuary.

As part of National Citizenship Service (NCS), 16 and 17-year-olds including Annie Elliott, Emily Howard, Brandon Carroll, Ryan Shields, Sophie Palmer and Alice Smith to clean out and give the buildings at the Easterleigh sanctuary in St Annes a lick of paint.

The work helped to improve the sanctuary in part after an arson attack in 2011, in which animals were killed and buildings damaged.

Annie said: “It was great to come down and help out at the sanctuary.

“The NCS helps you build your skills for work and life, while you take on new challenges and meet new friends.

“It brings together young people from different backgrounds and helps them develop greater confidenceand responsibility.”
