The run between Lytham and St Annes Lifeboat houses raised around £2,000 last year as more than 100 people took part – and organisers are hoping the event will again appeal to participants of all ages and levels of running experience.

RNLI spokesman David Forshaw said: “It is an event which has proved popular from the off and we hope to see plenty taking part again this year.

“It’s a run for everyone and an important fund-raiser for us – individual runners may set a time if they wish although walkers are equally welcome to come for a pleasant Sunday stroll.

“It is hoped that all ages will participate, even down to little ones in pushchairs, while fancy dress is optional but very much welcomed.”

Start time for runners is 11am, with walkers and joggers starting 15 minutes later.

Cost of entry is £10 for adults and £5 for children and places can be booked on line at www.lythamlifeboats.co.uk or entry forms are available at the Station’s souvenir shops attached to both boathouses.

Participants who register on the day at the St Annes Boathouse will be taken by a vintage bus to the start at the Lytham Boathouse.

People may also register at Lytham or on line and a special 2016 ‘Leg It’ t-shirt will be presented to each participant.
