‘Roads teams must meet with residents’

Last year, the Government announced it was to fund a new £41m bypass between A585 at Windy Harbour and Skippool junction.

However, while the road will provide relief for thousands of motorists stuck in heavy traffic along Mains Lane each day, Mr Menzies is concerned the project could impact other routes.

There had also been concerns raised that the investment would spell the death knell for a full A585 relief road, connecting Norcross to the M55.

Mr Menzies said: “I wrote to the Highways Agency to see what information is available and the agency responded confirming that the project would undergo a full public consultation before anything went ahead. I had already been assured that this did not mean the end of the Norcross M55 link but wanted to make sure that plan was still on the table.

“While this investment will help relieve one part of this busy route, it is important the rest of the road is not forgotten when looking at future infrastructure projects.”
