'˜Reliable, good value and very helpful conductors'

Trams are synonymous with Blackpool '“ and it seems you lot still love them.

We told last week how tramway bosses are now hoping to bust the 5m passenger mark this year after a stunning 20 per cent surge in customers.

New figures, released by the Department for Transport, showed the tramway carried 4.9m passengers between March 2015 and March 2016.

That is 600,000 up on the previous year.

Revenues on the route also rose, up nearly 10 per cent to £6.1m.

The news comes less than 12 months after Blackpool Transport came under criticism for heavy overcrowding on the services.

The firm is now considering rolling out free wifi on the tramway to encourage more commuters out of their cars.

Here’s what you had to say about the service.

Very good service. When I first moved here went on what I call the bone shakers, these trams are a lot smoother but in places they seem to scrape, ideal for the disabled people and pram/buggies, would easy get my silvercross pram on them without any probs.

Brilliant service, l was sceptical about them, mainly because l love the old style of trams. I have used the new trams from the first day they were put into service, my only gripe is the annoying announcements for every stop.

Eddie Young

For someone in a wheelchair they are brilliant and the staff are always helpful

Pam Gates

Brilliant service during our stay in Blackpool

Geoff Hunt

Stop wasting £30mon putting track up Talbot Road. Use money towards extension to St. Annes.

I’m sure Fylde Borough Council would assist with costs.

Paul Lamb

Now that is a good idea. We can walk up Talbot Road but it would be nice to get to St Annes

Thank goodness Blackpool heritage is refurbishing a lot of the balloon and classic railcoach trams.

Peter Bell

Very good...they just need to come through to Lytham and St Annes now.

Tina Nicola

Personally I’d rather see the heritage trams back in service permanently rather than weekends and school holidays

Adam Kean

It’s a brilliant service but conductors shouldn’t let so many people on.

It gets ridiculous when everyone ends up standing and those who are seated can’t get off the tram or end up being suffocated by people leaning over them.

Grace Winsnip

The tram service is second to none – on Bank Holidays, they still keep to the timetable of every 10 minutes.

Thulborn Chapman

I rate them highly 10-10 for service and speed across the Prom

Graham Nadin

Far better than Dubai trams of which you can walk faster

Sand Donnelly

Very good service can’t complain.

Roanna Lloyd

They cause traffic chaos in Cleveleys and don’t run past midnight...

Pleased with service. Reliable, good value for money, warm, clean and extremely helpful conductors, well done. I use it often from Fleetwood to Blackpool

Paula

Excellent service. Just wish Manchester City Council would jump into the 21st century by allowing dogs on trams.

£1 for a doggy day ticket usable all day on buses and trams.....fabulous. It’s £1 for one stop here in Manchester.

Well done Blackpool and see you again soon

Joanne Hassall

Love them, should be more of them. They should go to Thornton and link up to Poulton
