Gordon Brown praises former Blackpool MP Gordon Marsden for his legacy in the resort

Mr Brown, who was Prime Minister from 2007 to 2010. spoke during a Zoom call over the weekend as other MPs, including the Shadow first Secretary of State and deputy leader Angela Rayner, paid tribute to the anniversary.
Mr Brown said: “Everybody in Blackpool knows somebody who has been helped by Gordon Marsden.

Hide Ad“Gordon is thoughtful, he is compassionate and he is modest and I remember during the great recession of 2008 to 2010 that it was Gordon who persuaded us that we had to invest more money in Blackpool, in the Tower and the Winter Gardens.
“And not only has he achieved that for Blackpool but many of the health service investments that have made Blackpool a better place.”
Mr Marsden was MP from 1997 until the last General Election in December when Conservative Scott Benton was elected the new MP.
