She said: “I did some research and came across the UK Power Pageant and decided to enter. I was so pleased to be given the title Miss Blackpool International and become a finalist in the national pageant.

“Girls from all over the nation come to compete in this prestigious pageant and I will be representing Blackpool as it is my home town.

“As Miss Blackpool International I am encouraged to make appearances and use my title for charitable causes and community well-being. I recently did an appearance at the Imperial Hotel, at an event raising money for the Make A Wish Foundation.”

The final will be held at the Best Western Park Hall Hotel, in Chorley, on June 24, with events also taking place the day before.

Former St Aidan’s School pupil Phoebe said: “We have two days, with the grand final on the Sunday. There is an afternoon tea, a fitness routine, a chance to meet all the other girls, then we have rehearsals for the fashion show. We all have to wear a gold or silver sparkly dress for the dance routine and we have a swimwear round and evening dress round, as well as an interview with the judges.

“Taking part in a pageant does help to boost your confidence. It shows you that you can do it.

“I’d encourage anybody to take part in them. It’s such a nice environment to be in. It’s non-judgemental and everybody is so supportive. It’s fantastic seeing the other girls, everybody gets along so well.

“I’ve done a bit of modelling before and enjoyed that, I like the glamour and getting dressed up.

“I feel proud to be representing Blackpool in the final, having lived here all my life. There’s a lot to organise for the final – outfits, make-up, but I’m really looking forward to it.
