Pride Blackpool is going 'virtual' next weekend with home grown talent and surprise guests promised

Blackpool's pride event will be going online next weekend after the weekend event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Pride Blackpool 2020 was due to take place over the weekend of June 5 and 6 on the Tower Headlands with artists such as Marc Almond, Right Said Fred and Jake Shears of the Scissor Sisters set to appear, as well as the Pride Blackpool Parade.

Despite the event being axed due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, the organisers are going to put on an online event instead.

Pride chairman, Craig Coleman, said, ”The committee agreed that we had to mark Pride in Blackpool in some way. When we all saw the amazing work that our local LGBTQ+ Charity were doing to support those left extremely vulnerable due to the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, right here on our own doorstep, we decided we needed to step in.”

Virtual Pride Blackpool will be streamed live from the Pride Blackpool Facebook page www.facebook.com/PrideBlackpoolOfficial/ and website www.PrideBlackpool.co.uk on Saturday, June of 6, from 12.45 until 4pm.

Beginning with a virtual Pride Parade and it's promised that a 'mass' of home grown talent, Pride Blackpool supporters and 'some surprise guests' will appear throughout the afternoon, to raise money to support the LGBTQ+ service in Blackpool.

The event is free to watch, however people are encouraged those that can afford to, to donate, whatever they can to support HORIZON LGBTQ+ at Renaissance UK by going to www.virginmoneygiving.com/fund/VirtualPrideBPL
