Gran's sacrifice in aid of Cancer Research UK
She said: “I might feel nervous nearer the time, but to me, it doesn’t feel like a big deal. It will grow back, and it’s just appearance.
“I have a choice when so many people don’t.”
Kath – who works as support worker for adults with disabilities – was inspired to take on the challenge as one of her friends is currently battling cancer.

Hide AdGrandmother-of-five Kath will have her currently shoulder length locks lopped off and her head fully shaved at La Chic Hairdressers on St Annes Road, in South Shore. Some of her family will be there on the day to support her.
She said: “I can’t run or anything like that, so this was something I felt I could do.
“I had thought about doing it for my 50th.
“And I’ve got a friend who’s really ill at the moment and I think cancer is something which affects everybody.
“My eldest granddaughter doesn’t want me to do it, but I don’t feel too bothered about losing my hair – although I don’t think I would have done it in the winter.
