Samantha Wilkinson, 45, of Lindel Road, took the plunge to raise money for a cause close to her heart, the charity Macmillan Cancer Support.

She knows first hand about the fight to tackle this disease as her dad, Frank O'Neill, died from cancer back in 2011.

MacMillan has set up its special Brave the Shave campaign on social media to help supporters like Sam raise money for the charity.

Samantha said: "I braved the shave in memory to my dad.

"The Macmillan team gave exceptional treatment and support in the later stages of my dad's illness.

"Since his death I wanted to give something back in return to the doctors and nurses as a thank you for their hard work and to help financially with Cancer Support.

"It was a bit scary, to be honest, but it was definitely worth it.

"I just want to thank everyone who donated and gave me their support, especially Tyler from Lizzie’s hairdressers on Whinfield Aveue, here in Fleetwood, for cutting my hair."

Samantha set a target of £300 but thanks to all those who helped, she has smashed that target and raised more than £600.
