The youngster, a pupil at St Wulstan’s and St Edmunds, has completed 100km cycling, running or walking for the May Anyway Challenge, raising more than £1,000.

He has spent hours with his mum and dad, Mike and Catherine, getting out on the seafront in Fleetwood to complete his challenge.

The weather has been fairly kind in recent weeks but even through the not so fine late spring days, Mikey kept going and didn’t give up.

Catherine said: “Mikey put so much effort into the challenge even when he found it tough.

People who know Mikey, will know that this is way out of his comfort zone.”

The money will be split between local charities, Blackpool Trinity Hospice and Brian House.

“We chose Trinity and Brian House because of how much they support families including our old neighbour Molly Robinson who used the hospice and also because our family member Alfie, is a patron at the hospice.

Mike added: “I enjoyed doing it and he was so happy with how much he raised.

“It’s nice to know that it will help families who need it.

“I didn’t like the wind though!”

Mikey raised the money through Just Giving.
