Bispham school pays respects to support worker Cath Strangwood with funeral day closure

Moor Park Primary School in Bispham will close this Thursday (December 17) as a mark of respect for support worker Cath Strangwood, who died after a battle with coronavirus.

The Moor Park Avenue school will close, and staff will wear brightly coloured clothes, as they line the streets to pay their respects to Cath when her funeral car passes.

Mrs Strangwood, who was a support worker at Moor Park, died on November 28 at the age of 57, in Blackpool Victoria Hospital after a battle with coronavirus.

Her husband Andrew, daughter Amy and sons James and Matthew paid tribute to her following her death as a "loving and devoted wife, mother and grandma who lit up the room with her contagious laugh."

Cath's funeral will be held on Thursday December 17 at 1pm, at All Hallows Church, All Hallows Road, Bispham.

The funeral procession will stop outside Moor Park Primary School at 12.40pm, for staff to pay their respects and observe a minute of silence, to remember their beloved colleague and friend.

Headteacher Joanne Magson said: "School will be closed on Thursday. The staff will be lining the road outside of school at 12.40pm as the funeral car passes by school.

"There are also likely to be some past members of staff who will join us to pay their respects. We have been asked to wear bright colours to reflect Mrs Strangwood’s sunny personality.

"Myself and a few close colleagues and friends of Mrs Strangwood will then be attending the church service, at All Hallows Church at 1.00pm.

"The other members of our staff will be able to join the ceremony virtually by a live link."
