Montgomery Academy, in All Hallows Road, Bispham, has some vulnerable pupils and pupils whose parents are key workers still attending school, but many are tackling home-learning.

Assistant headteacher Elizabeth Cumming, along with her colleague Rob Hegarty, also assistant headteacher, will be delivering a "mobile motivation drive" to pupils on Monday (February 22).

"We'll be stopping at key areas in the community so they can collect anything they need.

"Everyone has been doing so well with their work at home, and we've also set up a Google health and wellbeing classroom for everyone.

"The purpose of it is to signpost additional support that is available to pupils, while incorporating an element of fun and social interaction."

Mrs Cumming and Mr Hegarty will provide schoolchildren with stationery, food parcels put together by Cleveleys' Morrisons supermarket, and sanitary products.

A wellbeing self-soothe kit will also be handed out, courtesy of Blackpool Council’s HeadStart programme.

The programme aims to build resilience among youngsters in the resort, while receiving support from the National Lottery Community Fund.

A spokesman for HeadStart said: "We've delivered over 1500 packs to schools, and many more via community hubs, just in time for half-term. The ideas for things to include in the packs were co-produced with young people and included an activity pack, hand cream to soothe chapped hands and mindfulness colouring books and pens for relaxation.

"This is all part of the Resilience Revolution's whole town approach to building a more resilient community."

Ollie Gibbs, trainee youth engagement worker, added: "We know schools are doing a great job of supporting young people and it’s also important that young people know that the community is also there for them during these really difficult times.

"Everyone who buys a lottery ticket is helping to keep our young people healthy and happy, thank you to each and every one of you."
