It was in fact members of the Bispham CastAways getting into character for their latest panto production.

They are performing The Wicked Witches of Oz, by Peter Nuttall, at Holy Family Church hall on Links Road on Friday December 16 and Saturday December 17, with evening performances and a Saturday matinee.

To raise funds for an on-going community project in which they visit Fylde coast care homes, the CastAways will be organising games and stalls before each of the three performances next month.

The shows begin at 7pm each night and 2pm for the Saturday matinee, but the doors open an hour before each performance for the fundraising.

The CastAways, registered as a charity, are trying to stump up enough money for a wireless mic system and licence to use when they visit the homes.

The problem was that they were struggling to find enough items for the stalls.

So Harts Amusements, on Bispham Promenade, came to the rescue, donating a whole box and bagful of prizes, along with some sweets, to help with their stalls and raffles.

The goodies included cuddly toys, boxing finger robots and crazy bouncy balls.

Sue Hope, a trustee at the CastAways said, “The generosity of Hart’s Amusements was truly amazing!

"I’ve been coming to this arcade since I was aged five and I still love it in my 40s. We cannot say thank you enough!”
