Squirrel Nutkins Nursery (inset), on Clarence Avenue, Cleveleys, received the highest rating in all areas - management, teaching, development, and outcomes for children - following an inspection on July 2.

The report said: “The highly qualified and experienced staff create a calm and nurturing environment and help children to make secure relationships.

“Staff prepare children exceptionally well for starting school.

“Children attend events at local schools, talk about their new teachers in group time discussions and dress up in school uniform during role play.

“Children learn how to keep themselves safe.”

To improve the nursery, it said staff should ‘evaluate the excellent teaching even more critically’.

Kimberley Weddle, manager at Squirrel Nutkins, said: “It went wonderfully. We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.

“I think it’s down to highly skilled members of staff providing high quality activities for the children, and they are constantly willing to learn to prvide good care for the children.”

Squirrel Nutkins’ sister nursery, Nutkins on Nutter Road, also received an ‘outstanding’ rating from Ofsted last month.

Both nurseries were previously rated ‘good’ by the education body.

Nursery owner Charlotte Bonney said: “We are absolutely thrilled. They are a very hard-working and experience team of staff.”
