Coun Peter Hardy was made Mayor last month, and he was taking part in his first official church service.

The service was preceded by a civic procession through the streets of the town, with the Mayor joined by other civic dignitaries from across Lancashire, members of the public and voluntary organisations in Fylde.

Coun Hardy was delighted with how the day went.

He said: “I thought it went very well, and it was nice that the weather was kind to us.

“The day was well attended and superbly organised – all in all it was a very busy, but enjoyable day.

“I felt rather proud taking my place in church as the Mayor of Fylde.

“It’s been a hectic start in my role as mayor, but one that I am finding very rewarding.”
