Under-16s will be admitted free, accompanied by a paying adult, as event organisers Cuffe and Taylor Management look to extend the ‘Last Night of the Proms’.

The Proms Festival features a slightly different format this year, with the ‘Last Night’ festivities, complete with finale fireworks, taking place on the Sunday rather than the Saturday.

And with the legendary Tom Jones already announced for the Saturday night, Cuffe and Taylor are predicting another massive turnout from North West music lovers for the three days of entertainment that start on Friday, August 1.

Festival director Peter Taylor said: “To have Michael and Lesley on the same bill on the same evening is tremendous, not to mention the amazing talents of Rhydian and Kerry, and The Tenors of Rock are also tremendous entertainment.

“It’s great to see Lesley back at the festival. She wowed the crowds at Lytham in 2010 during our first Proms, so this is a welcome and timely return.

“To mark our fifth year we felt it more fitting to have the firework display on the final evening, and to make it extra special.

“This year, we are also introducing free children’s tickets as we want this to be an event that the whole family can enjoy together.”

More big names are set to be announced shortly, with details of the Friday night bill still eagerly awaited.
