David Sturdy, a construction worker, 53, of Greenhey, Lytham, is accused of racially aggravated assault against a male friend.

Sturdy is alleged to have opened his car door hitting his friend in the face, causing a cut to his lip and lacerations to his face.

The offence is said to have taken place in the Lidl car park, Lytham, in December last year.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said the case was suitable to be heard at a magistrates court.

Sturdy told magistrates the friend had made-up the assault accusation after Sturdy found out he had been having an affair with his wife for two years.

Sturdy said he then told the man’s wife about the affair.

He agreed his trial should take place at a magistrates court.

Sturdy was bailed for trial on May 16 and must not contact the complainant as a condition of his bail.
