Long stretches of the outside lane on both the eastbound and westbound carriageways were closed until late last night following the incident shortly after noon yesterday.
An 18-ton lorry carrying animal feed collided with the central reservation between junction 1 at Broughton and Junction 3 at Kirkham.

There were no injuries or any other vehicles involved in the incident but about 150 yards of the barrier was badly damaged along with 50 barrier posts.

Delays were expected until around midnight to allow repairs to take place.
