It's gone too far for a truce argue Pool fans

Many say the dispute between supporters and the Oystons has gone too far for a reconciliation.

They were commenting in response to calls from Conservative councillor Tony Williams for a truce, made in yesterday’s Gazette. He, along with Blackpool’s two MPs, has written to the Sports Minister Tracey Crouch and the Football Association, asking them to intervene.

Blackpool South MP Gordon Marsden says he is also concerned about the impact the situation is having on the Blackpool FC Community Trust.

He said: “Along with others, including Jimmy Armfield, we have stated to the owners the need to reach out to the dissatisfaction of so many of the fans and that should involve a direct involvement of the fans.

“That is why I am backing my colleague, Clive Efford, shadow sports minister, with his bill that would give football fans a proper voice in the running of their club.

“I am also concerned about the impact of the situation on the Blackpool Community Trust.

“It has done so much good work in the town for so many people and is inevitably being affected by the current situation.

“They are as crucial a part in maintaining the link between club and town as everything that goes on in 90 minutes at Bloomfield Road.”

The Football Association again declined to comment on the situation.
