It's been a strange year already, but 2020 became even weirder at the weekend when a flying dinosaur was spotted in the sky over Blackpool.

Eagle-eyed sky-watchers first glimpsed the T-Rex soaring above Lytham and St Annes at around 7pm on Saturday (June 20).

The strange sight had some parents doing a double-take as excited children pointed skywards and exclaimed, "flying dinosaur!"

"My daughter came running in and said there's a dinosaur in the sky!" said one Blackpool mum.

"I couldn't make out what it was at first and she was absolutely howling, saying 'It's a dinosaur mum! It's a dinosaur!', and she was right!"

The sight of the toothy T-Rex tearing it through the sky brought joy to lots of children (and adults!), but the story of how it got its wings began with tears for one little boy.

Lytham mum Georgia Fishwick said the inflatable T-Rex had been a special present for her dinosaur-mad son, Ronnie, on his 2nd birthday.

"He cried his eyes out when it blew away," said Georgia.

"But it's nice that so many people have seen him and it's put a smile on so many faces.

"It's not everyday you spot a dinosaur flying above the Fylde coast. But these are very strange times!"
