The event was held to raise funds for Vincent House, a project to accommodate the homeless in Blackpool.

The Nearly perfect Choir entertained the guests and children enjoyed some festive activities from decorating iced biscuits to colouring in wreaths.

There was also a raffle, tombola and refreshments.

The fair, which was attended by Park Ward Coun Gillian Campbell, raised just over £200.

Haleema, 70, from Grange Park, has helped to organise events at the community centre – along with other committee members – for 11 years.

But has now decided to hang up her party planner due to a health scare.

Haleema said: “I’ve really enjoyed all the activities we have done – the Easter and Christmas fairs, the Harvest Festivals and the Strawberry Teas.

“I’ve gone round begging for raffle prizes from businesses and they’ve all been so generous.

“There’s a man in Abingdon Street Market who donates strawberries every year for the Strawberry Tea. I’m so grateful for their support.

“We’ve raised a lot of money for charities over the years.

“Events like these are great for the community.”
