DIY boss visits store for 30th anniversary

The boss of a DIY chain visited its Blackpool branch to congratulate an employee on his 30 years service.

Michael Loeve, chief executive officer at B&Q presented customer advisor John Webb with a certificate at the Whitehills retail park outlet.

John, 57, joined the business in 1987 as a general assistant.

In 2000, he was the second person to be recruited to B&Q’s new store at Whitehills.

He said: “Being taken on to work at the warehouse was one of my career highlights and something that I always wanted.

“Now, after 30 years with the company, I am one of the longest serving members of the B&Q team – something I’m very proud of.”

Mr Loeve said: “We are very lucky to have staff like John here at B&Q. Expertise like his are the foundations on which our company is built upon.

“He’s shown a 30-year commitment to the company, our customers and his colleagues, an amazing achievement indeed.

“I think we can all learn from John.”
