Security call in court as man is accused of stabbing three women

A man accused of attempted murder, and seriously injuring three women he is alleged to have stabbed with a knife, has made his first appearance at court.

Extra security officers had to be drafted in as Lee Holt, 25, of no fixed address, appeared in the dock at Blackpool Magistrates Court.

He is charged with the attempted murder of a woman he is alleged to have stabbed in the neck.

Holt is also accused of inflicting knife wounds on two other women, wounding them with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The offences are said to have taken place at a house in Blackpool on Friday.

Holt appeared in the dock wearing a light-grey t-shirt and grey tracksuit bottoms flanked by two security guards.

But he was shouted at by spectators in the public gallery and the judge had to call for extra security officers from the court foyer to enter the courtroom.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, asked for the case to be heard at crown court.

Defence lawyer, Peter Manning, did not ask for bail for his client.

Holt was remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court by District Judge Jeff Brailsford, sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court

Holt will appear at the higher court on June 8.
