Today, detectives released a computer-generated EvoFit image of the robber, and told The Gazette: “It is imperative we catch this man as soon as possible.”

The woman, who is from the local area, then chased the robber as he ran through a wooded area and onto Agnew Street.

Det Cons Mark Anson said: “The victim has been left shocked and shaken and very upset.

“We have kept in regular contact with the victim and will give her support should she require it.

“It goes without saying that we want to trace and catch this offender as soon as we can and that is why we have issued this Evofit.

“Clearly it is imperative that we catch this man as soon as possible.

“Anyone who thinks they may have seen anyone acting suspiciously or thinks they know who this person is should contact police.”

The incident happened at 2.30pm on Thursday, November 28.

Officers have also moved to reassure the community, and say no incidents of a similar nature to this have been recorded before or since.

Det Cons Anson added: “This was a particularly distressing ordeal for the woman involved and we are extremely keen to find the man responsible.

“I would ask people to look carefully at the EvoFit. If they think they know who this man could be then I would urge them to come forward.”

The man is described as being white and of slim build with short grey hair.
