Man threatened to kill Blackpool Victoria Hospital worker with an arrow

A 39-year-old man threatened to kill a staff member at Blackpool Victoria Hospital after turning up to work armed with an arrow.

David Holic, of Falmouth Road, Blackpool arrived for his shift at Glasdon manufacturers in Preston New Road carrying an arrow with a bizarre and chilling message inscribed on it.

On its shaft he had carved the message: "I have reason...I don't need more to take a life." He told colleagues the message was intended for a staff member at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

The incident happened on January 25 and saw police called to his workplace. He told officers that the NHS worker would be killed in three weeks if they did not respond.

Holic admitted possessing an offensive weapon in public when he appeared before Blackpool Magistrates this morning (Tuesday, March 14).

The court ordered pre-sentence reports on the 39-year-old, who was released on bail subject to not entering the hospital grounds except for a medical emergency.
