Judge: ‘You’re not a 10-year-old’

A father who caused a scene as young pupils were being picked up from a busy St Annes primary school was slammed by a senior magistrate for acting like a 10-year-old child.

Anthony McPartland first threatened a lollipop man who challenged him about riding his bicycle on the pavement near St Thomas Primary School.

He refused to get off his bike and then called his former girlfriend names as she collected a child from the school. McPartland, a 27-year-old carer and father-of-two, formerly of Fallowfield Road, Ansdell, now living in Waddington Road, St Annes, pleaded guilty to two offences of behaving in a threatening manner.

He was fined £160 with a £150 courts charge plus £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

He was also put on a one year restraining order which bans him from communicating with his ex except with authorisation from the family court or a solicitor for contact with his children.

Presiding magistrate, Rosemary Shipley, told him: “It is very unfair for someone in the public domain to be abused like that. It was also not fair to the children in the area.

“You are not a 10-year-old child.”

Jessica Partington, defedning, said her client was riding on the edge of the pavement when the lollipop man put out his lollipop nearly knocking him off his bike.
