Preston Crown Court heard the offences took place between May 19 and May 23 last year.

Defending, Sara Haque said Simpson, who appeared by a video link, needed to be present in court in order to understand what was happening.

She added an assessment had deemed he had a mental age of four and significant learning difficulties and it had been difficult to confirm details with him over a video link.

Judge Sara Dodd adjourned the case until July 29.
