Drink driver Steven Christy found slumped at the wheel in Fleetwood Cemetery

Steven Christy, 51, admitted to police he had downed six cans of lager whilst visiting family graves at Fleetwood Cemetery on October 14 last year.
Police were called by a witness who had seen Christy, of Radcliffe Road, Fleetwood slumped at the wheel of his Suzuki.

Hide AdThe ignition keys were in starter and Christy admitted being in charge of the car whilst over three times the legal limit.
Appearing at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court on Friday (April 21), he also admitted drink driving the same car whilst awaiting sentencing for the ‘drunk in charge of a motor vehicle’ offence.
Pam Smith, prosecuting, said police were tipped off that Christy was at the wheel of the car when he was spotted driving to a shop.
He was stopped by police when he returned home and admitted driving to the shop to buy more lager because he felt rough from drinking the night before.
A breath test revealed he was over the limit again.

Hide AdSteven Duffy, defending, said Christy had lost his job due to his drinking and faced divorce for the same reason.
"He is now telling me he is dry and has bought a bike to ride," said Mr Duffy.
Christy was banned from driving for two years and handed a one year community punishment with 20 rehabilitation days.
He must also comply with an alcohol treatment order, complete 100 hours unpaid work and pay £314 in fines and costs.
