CCTV appeal after Blackpool electrical store thefts

A pair of suspected shoplifters were caught clearly on camera as they allegedly stole hundreds of pounds worth of goods from a Blackpool electronics shop.

The man and woman are wanted in connection with a theft at Maplin at Blackpool Retail Park on Tuesday at 4.50pm.

Around £780 worth of CCTV equipment was taken.

Maplin assistant manager Dennis Askham said: “Unfortunately we get maybe two or three thefts a week, but this particular one was of a very high value.

“The pictures we got of the two people are very clear.

“They looked very confident in what they were doing so hopefully other retailers or people might be able to identify them.

“It has been reported to the police.”

CCTV footage of the suspects shows a white man aged approximately 40 with a dark short-back-and-sides haircut, a large dark green coat and a black Adidas T-shirt.

He is accompanied by a young white woman with shoulder-length black hair and a peach-coloured top.

Dennis said: “Within about half an hour of them leaving we found the empty shelves.

“The man was wearing a big, green coat that looked built for purpose.

“The woman that was with him was much younger. She was skinny and wearing blue jeans.”

A police spokesman said: “We were called at 6pm to an electronics shop at Blackpool Business Park. Two people have taken a number of items.

“No arrests have been made yet and inquiries are ongoing.”
