A 21-year-old man believed to be the driver was arrested a short time later on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving whilst unfit through drink and/or drugs.

He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Officers have now confirmed the car that may have been involved in the collision has been traced following a public appeal.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "Yesterday, we asked for your help to find a car believed to have been involved in a collision in Blackpool.
