A meeting is to be held after councillors decided to ‘call-in’ a cabinet member’s decision on Fylde’s housing need.

Last month, 13 councillors, led by Coun Liz Oades, questioned a decision taken by housing portfolio holder Coun Trevor Fiddler.

Councillors raised concerns a proposed housing figure of between 300-420 dwellings per year and the estimated need of 207 affordable dwellings per year would lead to too many greenfield sites being left open to development.

Councillors are worried the borough is becoming a target for developers as the area’s blueprint for housing, the Local Plan 2030, is agreed.

A meeting to review the decision will be held on June 4 from 6.15pm at Lowther Pavilion, Lytham.
